Two Bell AH-1F Cobra Attack Helicopter which is one of the primary combat choppers of the Jordanian air force has been offered to the Philippines by the King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein. This was disclosed last month, May 22, by the Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte during his speech on the 120th-anniversary event of the Philippine Navy.

According to President Duterte, his National Security Adviser Secretary Hermogenes Esperon Jr. went in Jordan for the arrangement and documentation of the said attack chopper and on his table, he got the electronic copy for his authority to accept it.”

According to a high ranking officer of the Philippine air force (PAF), the attack chopper will soon on its way and possibly it will be assigned to the 15th Strike Wing which is the primary provider of tactical air operation in support to the Armed Forces of the Philippines units.

The Bell AH-1 Cobra is a two-blade, single-engine attack helicopter manufactured by Bell Helicopter. It was developed using the engine, transmission and rotor system of the Bell UH-1 Iroquois. A member of the prolific Huey family, the AH-1 is also referred to as the HueyCobra or Snake.

Meanwhile, Under the 2nd horizon projects of the AFP modernization, the Department of National Defense (DND) is on the edge of studying whether they will acquire additional of this combat attack chopper in other countries who also operate this type of aircraft like Israel and if possible to the United States. – JCE
