A large cargo ship “Spring Rosetta” arrived on Thursday at the port of Iligan City, loaded with 47 various types of heavy equipment worth $3M dollars donated by the Chinese government.
The donation is a part of China’s humanitarian assistance program in the Philippines.
This Chinese made heavy equipment includes 8 units excavator, 8 wheel loader, 5 compactor, 5 bulldozers, 8 units dump truck, 8 cement mixer and assorted spare parts.
The equipment was received by the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) Region-10 officer line-2 Rey Peter Gillye, to be used in the massive reconstruction and rehabilitation of the now war-torn Marawi City.
Engineer Omra Panggaga, a Region-10 equipment management division head said that they will first check it one by one to find out what is lacking, like the hydraulic oil or engine oil and fuel.
The officials from the DPWH will conduct a ceremonial turnover and will be attended by the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua. President Rodrigo Duterte is also expected to attend the ceremony before transferring the equipment to Marawi City. – J.Carl.
