A Plan that will permits the United States military to conduct airstrikes on ISIS stronghold in the Philippines is now being considered by the Pentagon, two defense officials said in an interview by NBC news.

As part of collective self-defense arrangement between the US and its allies, an authority to strike ISIS targets could be granted which would likely be conducted by armed drones wherein it will set as a major aspect of an official military operation that might be named as early as Tuesday said the officials.

If approved, the U.S. military would be able to conduct strikes against ISIS targets in the Philippines that could be a threat to allies in the region, which would include the Philippine forces battling ISIS on the ground in the country’s southern islands.

According to the Pentagon spokesperson Capt. Jeff Davis, U.S. military has been sharing intelligence with the Philippines for years.

“We have had a consistent CT [counterterror] presence in the Philippines for fifteen years now,” Defense official added. – JCE.
