Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade together with other officials of the government’s #BuildBuildBuild Team was in Tokyo, Japan last week for a two-day visit to directly look in the ongoing construction of the Shin-Yokohama subway train station.

Likewise, the team personally check the Japan’s Rail Training as well as Rail Construction and Subway Construction Processes in preparation for the creation of the Philippines Rail Institute and the coming construction of the Metro Manila Mega Subway system project.

Among the official who was also with Secretary Tugade is Secretary Mark Villar of the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) and Chairman Danny Lim of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The Transportation Secretary said he is “very impressed” with Japan’s rail & subway construction processes, and its rail training.

DOTr is also partnering with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and will use the Japanese tunneling technology in building the Metro Manlla Subway including the use of Japanese railway innovation and advancement in the development of railways in the country such as the Manila-Clark and Manila-Los Banos rail projects. – JCE.

  1. Philippines will benefit high tech railway system from Japan…it can’t waste of money assurance of quality and performance to the passengers.
