A combined anti-terrorism unit of the Armed forces of the Philippines code name JSOG or Joint Special Operations Group will soon be equipped with specialized vests that will additionally secure and protect them during operations against lawless elements.

JSOG will be equipped with 1,190 sets of force protection safety gear amounting to P53.5 million pesos to strengthen the operational capability of the anti-terrorism squad. Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana announced yesterday.

The specialized vests are made by an Israeli firm, the MAROM Dolphin Limited. A company that supplies force protection equipment for the Israel Defense Force and are expected to be delivered by the second quarter of this year, Lorenzana said.

It was a G to G arrangement or government-to-government procurement process, pursuant to a Memorandum of Understanding on Logistics and Defense Industry Cooperation and the Implementing Arrangement for Procurement of Defense Materials between the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Israel Ministry of Defense, Lorenzana added.

JSOG, soon to equip with force protection equipment.

The JSOG is composed of specialized units from the various major services of the AFP, including the Philippine Army’s Light Reaction Regiment, the Philippine Navy’s Naval Special Operations Group and a Special Operations Wing from the Philippine Air Force who will be assigned to serve and operate the intensified counter-terrorism campaign of the Philippine government. – JCE.
