A report from an Indonesian news website The Jakarta Post said on Monday that Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte has given Indonesian President Widodo a “go-ahead” to execute Filipina death row inmate Mary Jane Veloso.
“President Duterte has given the go-ahead to proceed with the execution,” Jokowi was quoted as saying by Antara news agency in Serang, Banten.
An Australian correspondent Adam Harvey, of ABC Indonesia, said Duterte made the statement during his meeting with Widodo last Friday.

But Malacanang has denied such report and has told the reporters that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte never gave such approval to proceed with the execution of Mary Jane Veloso during his meeting with Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo a week ago.
A clarifying statement had been made by Foreign Affairs secretary Perfecto R. Yasay Jr. He said, “President Duterte has not given a so-called ‘green light’ to the execution of Mary Jane Veloso.”
