The Bicol Regional Development Council (BRDC) has recently announced that the construction of a P4.7 billion pesos, Bicol International Airport is in full swing and are now forty-seven percent complete.

Located in Barangay Alobo, Daraga municipality of Albay, the new airport had been planned since early 2006 and was scheduled to be completed in 2014, but after many delays, the airport will soon operational in July 2017, Officials from the BRDC said.

An estimated of two square kilometers of agricultural land has been used to give way for this modern airport that will feature a two-story passenger terminal with floor space of 13,320 square meters. A number of other structures will also be constructed including a 271 square meter cargo facility, a 1,012 square meter administration building, and an 8,049 square meter vehicle parking lot.

The new airport is located in the Guicadale Economic Township, which connects forty resettlement communities surrounding the airport, along with Guinobatan, Camalig, Daraga, and Legazpi City. These communities are expected to prosper and thrive as the airport creates a new economic zone.

Albay Governor Joey Salceda said that the new international airport would pave the way for a safer and faster means of transportation. Reaching local and international destinations that will trigger economic growth in the Bicol region. – Carl E.

    • Just curious: how would Poe winning have made a difference to Salceda (AKA, the fruit of the season) or the airport? The airport was/is on schedule for completion.

  1. Senator Grace Poe should have accepted to give up her presidential candidacy when Mar Roxas
    asked her to do so. I wish presumed president Duterte will do very well but I still think that Mar Roxas can do better especially with VP Robredo. At all times, what is in the best interest
    of the Filipino people should prevail when making political decisions.
