A possible large volume of natural gas was discovered in the province of Ilo-Ilo in the town of Barotac Nuevo, wherein workers from Brgy. Bagumbong were drilling for water, to be used in rice field irrigation.

They were shocked when they found out that a gas fume was rushing out on the pipe instead of water suddenly ignited.

A certain Ronnie Palermo one of the workers were ordered by the local officials to contain the fire for fear that it would spread and become uncontrollable.

It’s not yet clear whether the mineral is an oil or natural gas, but experts believe the deposit could be massive.
