MANILA, Philippines – A consolidated house bill 6475 seeking to establish the Quezon-Bicol Expressway (QuBex) endorsed recently for a plenary approval by the House committees on Southern Tagalog development and appropriations headed by Reps. Scott Davies Lanete of Masbate and Aleta Suarez of Quezon.
The project will have an indicative length of approximately 180 kilometers and will be an alternative option of travel from Quezon and the Bicol Provinces.
The project will provide a safe, fast and developed alternative for commuters to use since the original road being traversed by the people will go through the “Poblacion” of the different Municipalities. A direct route to the provinces of Bicol.
Under the bill, the QuBex project will be under the Build-Operate-Transfer scheme (BOT) wherein the proponent will finance, build, operate as well as maintain the project and eventually transfers ownership of the project to the government.
Likewise, a road that will link the South Luzon Expressway Toll Road 4 in Lucena City and QuBex will be built by the Department of Public Works and Highways.(DPWH)
The expressway will start in Malicboy, Quezon and end in Sorsogon. – Jason E.
It’s about Time…Great Idea…
How will that sea gap shown in the route between Guiniangan, Quezon and Del Gallego, Cam. Sur be taken care of?
A bridge will be built. It has been done before: the San Juanico Bridge connecting Samar to Leyte.
san juanico bridge is just a little bit more than 2km. the bridge required for this project as the illustration shows will be 10x longer, about 23km. China has a 27Km bridge and it cost around £1,000,000,000 (uk pounds)… Cost of production and maintenance alone means a bridge of that length is not going to be built, especially when theres an alternative route to go around which will only be longer by about 10km. 33km road is cheaper than a 23 km unnecessary bridge.
No problem. It has been done before. Look at the San Juanico Bridge connecting Samar to Leyte.
