A lighthouse built by China on one of the Manila-claimed reefs in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) has just started its operation. China’s Xinhua News Agency reported.
The construction of a 55-meter-high tall lighthouse in Zamora or Subi Reef started last October 2015 and it was finished last March 2016. A completion ceremony last Tuesday, April 5, 2016, was headed by the Chinese Ministry of Transport for the announcement of its full operation.

It has a lantern on top and rotating white light inside that emit with a range of 22 nautical miles during nighttime with a glowing cycle of five seconds. It is being controlled and monitored through a remote control terminal by the Chinese Navy. PLA navy official said, “the Lighthouse is a sign that the entire South China Sea is ours”.
According to Beijing, the construction of lighthouses on its artificial islands was designed to provide efficient navigation services such as positioning reference, route guidance and navigation safety information to ships, which can improve navigation management and emergency response.
According to Xinhua report, They said the high traffic density, complex navigation condition, severe shortage in aids and response forces have combined to threaten navigation safety and hindered economic and social development in the region.” – Jason E.
You won’t own it for too long and that’s a fact.
For the record the Philippines nor Vietnam nor anyone else have not conceded Subi Reef to the PLA Navy.
