China on Wednesday expressed anger and will file a diplomatic protest against the United States to a report that four to six U.S. Air Force A10 warthog planes from the Philippines performed unlawful flight missions in the vicinity of the Huangyan Island(Panatag shoal or Scarborough shoal) in the West Philippine Sea on April 19.

According to China’s Foreign Ministry “the United States repeatedly violating Chinese airspace over Huangyan Island and we have noticed that the U.S. is pushing militarization of the South China Sea in the name of ‘Freedom of Navigation and overflight.”

Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said that the United States should play a constructive role in regional peace and stability, rather than the opposite, and this continued warplane overflights are endangering Chinese fishermen and Chinese coast guard vessels.

She said “The United States has repeatedly questioned China’s intentions, but will the U.S. explain its real motive in stoking tensions and increasing military presence in the area?”

“Does the United States mean freedom of navigation enjoyed by ordinary ships in line with international law or freedom of intrusion by U.S. military planes and vessels?” she added. – Carl E.

  1. If the Philippine Navy did not back off after catching the Chinese poachers in this island in 2012 our fishermen will still be fishing there peacefully. It appears USA negotiated for withdrawal of both parties during that stand off, but the Chinese never withdraw. Chinese should not complain about the US & PH patrol for this island is within PH EEZ per UNCLOS and their 9-line is not well defined or documented. Powerful and rich Chinese should not bully the Poor Filipino fishermen for this is their ancestral fishing ground.

  2. Better learn Chinese and brush up on Chinese Communism.

    That’s because weakness breeds contempt.

Or to put it another way: If the U.S. has been reluctant to put boots on the ground against 30,000~50,000 ISIS fighters while not fully honoring the 5-year “pottery barn” warranty following our 2003 invasion of and 2011 withdrawal from Iraq, what are the chances we will take any action to do anything against a much larger foreign military to back up treaties that were signed decades ago in the previous century?

Communist China sees the U.S. as being weak and a “paper tiger” under the Obama administration—-and with time running out on his time in office, its TA (Take Advantage) time for the Communist Chinese.

That being said, whatever the U.S. does or doesn’t do will be solely for our own interest—–and not for a foul weather “friend” like the Philippines. It should also be pointed out that it was the PI booting the U.S. Navy out from Subic Bay in the early 1990s that created the big vacuum in that part of the Pacific which the Communist Chinese are now finally taking advantage of.

Or to put it another way: Nature abhors a vacuum.

  3. The Philippine Navy should start reclamation over the Scarborough shoals and construct a permanent military outpost with a helipad, boat and ship docks there for our soldiers so they could effectively guard the area against further Chinese intrusions. It is within our 200NM EEZ and the Philippines has every single right to exert our sovereignty over that area. Unlike the Chinese who are clearly invading our territories. It is time to make a firm stand!

  4. The us been using that area for LIVE FIRE target practice for a long time just keep doing what we have been doing in the past..” target practice” ..have it down pretty good in the whole of the area inside PHILIPPINE 200 mile EEZ. with next gen weapons really a small area..100% covergae….Its really close its clearly inside Philippine 200 mile zone even an A 10 can fly their now its soo surface to air missiles surely have great coverage over and around the shoal maybe some surface to surface target practice is in order or maybe even surface to air even better….
