Xinhua, China’s official News Agency harshly and strongly criticized the Philippine Supreme Court’s backing on the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) that will allow the US military, warships and aircraft to camp in local military bases in the Philippines.
The Chinese news agency said, Wednesday, that the agreement will only escalate tensions and only a threat to regional peace and stability.
Xinhua said that the Philippines is “turning to Uncle Sam” to counter China, saying Manila would bear the negative consequences of what it called a “stupid move.”
The ruling of the SC will bolster the United States efforts in reasserting its presence in Southeast Asia, with the Philippines desire for American help in countering China’s territorial claims.

You reap what you sow China! And if you continue on that stubborn path you pursue there will be justification in placing land-based cruise missile batteries facing the West Philippine sea to counter your so-called 1st zone of denial as well as undersea torpedo clusters specifically tuned to signatures of Chinese SBM’s as well as surface ships placed within the Bashi Strait.
CHINA MADE A BIG TACTICAL ERROR BY OCCUPYING AND BUILDING STRUCTURES IN ATOLLS OF THE WEST PHILIPPINES SEA…INSTEAD OF MAKING PEACE AND NEGOTIATING WITH THE PHILIPPINES ON THE USE OF THESE VAST SEA RESOURCES., THEY UNILATERALLY INVADED THE WEST PHILIPPINE TERRITORIES…THE PHILIPPINES, BEING A MILITARILY WEAK COUNTRY HAS NO RECOURSE BUT TO SEEK HELP ELSEWHERE E.G. THE USA………HAD THEY GOTTEN THE COOPERATION OF THE PHILIPPINES, THEY WOULD HAVE HAD A LEGITIMATE OCCUPATION OF THOSE AREAS NOW BEING CONTESTED BY THE WHOLE WORLD…. THE COMMUNIST MILITARY JUNTA SHOULD SHOOT BY FIRING SQUAD THE OFFICIAL WHO PLANNED THE OCCUPATION OF THE ATOLLS IN THE WEST PHILIPPINE SEA… WITH ALL THEIR ECONOMIC MIGHT, CHINA MISSED ITS CHANCE FOR GREATNESS…. NOW, THEY WILL HAVE TO FIGHT THE WHOLE WORLD TO SAVE FACE….
Why should Beijing feel compelled to comment on an agreement between two sovereign nations to help implement a longstanding alliance that is purely defensive in nature? The Mutual Defense Treaty of 1951 only aims at defending the allies against external aggression. How does the treaty in any way pertain to the PRC unless it is intent on committing such aggression?
