After opening its first pick-up and ordering point in Phuket, Thailand.

Ikea, the world’s largest furniture retailer, which is known for designing and selling modern ready-to-assemble furniture (such as bed, chairs and desk) could be opening soon in Manila.

Mike King, their retail manager in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, told The Nation that if they could find a business partner and a good location in Vietnam and the Philippines it would open up to serve 24 million customers in Manila.

If it happens, it will also create job opportunities to many Filipinos.

“The two new branches will possibly be erected within five years,” he told The Nation.

King said “there was plenty of space for the home-furnishing market in this region. Therefore, Ikea plans to open a new outlet every year from now on.” reports said.
