A Japanese company Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., is planning to expand its operation in the province of Negros Occidental which has an existing deal with the Municipality of Toboso. A three-day visit of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. in Japan who just arrived recently said, “It is still looking for another place here in the province.”

In spite of the fact that Tsuneishi is arranging set up different projects in the area, there is no formal proposition yet from the company, he included.

The governor said that the company has also ventured into shipbreaking and salvaging. “They tear up the old boat for scraps and check whether these can in any case be utilized as other steel items.”

Ships have electric engines and costly parts, makingshipbreaking exceptionally work and labor concentrated, he included.

In the meantime, Marañon said the provincial government rented a part of the Negros First Ranch for a tie-up big business for dairy products on the grounds that the Japanese firm needs to set up a dairy business in the area.
