The Philippine Army tested the 6/28 newly acquired M113A2 (APC) on Monday (September 21) at Camp O’Donnell in Capas, Tarlac.

The six APCs from Israel are equipped with remote controlled 50 milimiter machine gun. This can minimize the number of war casualties from the military.

Defense Secretary Gazmin and AFP Gen. Iriberri actually watched the testing of the APCs. The AFP modernization fund financed the procurement of the 28 APCs with a total cost of 800 million Pesos, added by Gazmin.

114 more APCs donated by the US are about to arrive before the end of the year.

  1. Whoever decided to acquire the refurbished armoured personnel carriers will need to be investigated. The money for army weaponries should be geared against external threats not internal!!! What they bought are essentially crew served weapons (Crows) widely available everywhere mounted on old APCs which could not even protect against IEDs. Who the hell is the genius Filipino General (problem) that decided to undertake this purchase should hang!!! Commission na naman inatupag ng mga uud na ito!!!
