BEIJING, – China unveiled its first “Very Large Floating Platform” project which gives off an impression of being a 21st century emphasis of the US Military “Versatile Offshore Base” concept and idea. The project was revealed to the general population amid the “National Defense Science and Technology Achievements” exhibition held recently in Beijing.
It is reported that the very large floating structures (VLFS) is thousands of meters long and made up of skimming modules joined together. It can be assembled as required and used as a floating pier, logistics base and airport.
A huge floating island or airport or ocean base can be accomplished by connecting a few floating platforms, which is extremely valuable for military and civilian use, said a specialist when interviewed by Shenzhen TV.
US Mobile offshore base
The mobile offshore base (MOB) thought was first seriously and genuinely considered when the United States entered Operation Desert Shield (1990–91). MOB is an idea and concept for supporting military operations conventional land bases are not available. With the MOB idea the U.S. could have a base anyplace on the planet in as little as a month.
A MOB could accommodate and send conventional warriors and even huge cargo flying aircraft like the C-17 Globemaster III and additionally landing craft. Such a floating offshore base has been researched and looked into and proposed, yet never developed.
Future will tell if unlike the U.S., the Chinese military chooses to proceed, create and actually produce a VLFS/mobile offshore base.

This is our we need to protect it. We need to lease the protection of foreign powers and this island will be financed by the philippine govt. and donor countries.
A large stationary target, that’s what it is basically.
